Welcome Home Troops!

Well it looks like it's over for the men and women stationed in Iraq, they are finally on their way home; thank goodness! I was wondering when it was ever going to end.

As one can assume from my stage name (Cara Lott) I don't condone violence of any kind, I am a peaceful person but what's done is done. Please let's all move forward from this point on.

Oh wow! I totally forgot about this photo of me and Jillian Foxxx at the Las Vegas Halloween Ball a couple years back. I was going to post it last year but was tied up with physical therapy after my knee surgery and never got around to it. Jillian looked so HOT in her little uniform!

Happy 4th of July!

It's that time of year again when I usually kick off the summer with a 5K run down Main Street in my hometown of Huntington Beach, CA, the 4th of July Parade, meeting up with old friends followed by the annual fireworks display. Unfortunately I was feeling under the weather and couldn't make it this year. This will be only the fourth time I've missed it in 49 years! I even went last year just days after my knee surgery. I'm not bummed though. I spent a relaxing day in bed, eating ice cream and watching the "Twilight Zone" Marathon on T.V., then went out on my balcony to watch the fireworks display later that evening with a neighbor. All-in-all it was a good day. Sorry to have missed you all this time but hey there's always next year!

I hope you all had a fantastic 4th of July weekend!

Just because I hit a pothole in the road of life doesn’t mean my suspension is totally shot, nor is my optimism and sense of humor. I just needed an alignment! So I decided to turn my disadvantage into an advantage and have some fun with it. Ahhh, l’amour... It’s Valentine’s Day, a day for couples or perhaps a ménage a’ trios? (Lucky you!)

But what about the millions of singles out there?

Being a happily single woman myself I decided to spend the day and a very comfortable evening with the person I know and love the most… me! It’s not a vanity thing, I just truly believe one can enjoy his or her own company without a lover or significant other AND have a lot of fun doing it too!

There are tons of suggestions for ‘extracurricular activities’ out there on the internet for singles on V-Day but I decided to make up my own itinerary.

Since I recently had knee surgery (as some of you already know) getting all dressed up and going out dancing was out of the question. However, I’ve discovered there are quite a few interesting ways to meet handsome, (single) men on Valentine’s Day and I didn’t even have to spend hours getting dressed up or stray from my daily physical therapy regime either. All I needed was a sexy bikini, figure flattering gym attire, sunglasses, waterproof mascara, SPF 30 sunscreen and some tinted lip gloss; that’s it!

I usually just roll out of bed and go to the gym in the morning wearing only a baggy T-shirt and sweat pants. Today however was Valentine’s Day and I was on a mission.

I figured after 5:00p.m. would be the best time to go to the gym and flirt with (almost certainly) single men with nothing else to do. So I re-arranged my schedule to lap swim in the a.m. and lounge poolside during the day.

Well, since I’m a regular fixture at the community pool I know most of the men here are married but there are a few retirees hanging around the pool during the week that I strike up a conversation with from time- to- time. However, today there were a few young men from one of the local Universities in my area lounging in the spa that I didn’t recognize, they were friends of one of my neighbors; a bit too young for me (21+) but still fun to flirt with. My new bikini was a big hit with the boys who couldn’t believe I was forty-nine; I love it!

Around 2:00p.m. It was time for a Sushi lunch and a mid-day nap.

After a short snooze it was time for physical therapy so I brushed my hair, put on a little mascara and lip gloss which I don’t ordinarily do when I go to the gym and applied my ‘secret weapon’ a pink leg brace; yes, a leg brace! After wearing it for the past few months I’ve discovered it’s a dude magnet! It really doesn’t matter how I look when I go to the gym I always have several attractive guys walk up and ask what happened to my knee; it’s a real ice breaker. I’ve been asked out on several dates already even when I was using crutches! (What’s up with that!?) I wasn’t ready to start dating then but now I’m starting to get the ‘itch’, taking care of myself is getting a little old.

So I hit the gym at 5:30p.m. for physical therapy. After some warm up stretches this ‘lil ‘Cougar’ went on a man hunt. Since I can’t do the Body Pump/Boot Camp style classes yet I have to use machines and free weights, that’s where the best looking bods are anyway. It’s a real turn on watching finely honed men, (young and mature) sweating and grunting as they lift the heavy weights. Don’t get me wrong here guys, I love ALL body types, shapes and sizes; you all look great to me!

I just looked around for a few guys that looked like they knew what they are doing and asked if I could join in or spot for them; asking for help on an unfamiliar machine worked too and it wasn’t long before I was chatting with some interesting, AND as I suspected ‘available’ men.

After about an hour I had one ‘after workout’ late dinner offer from a very polite 38 year old Optometrist which I immediately accepted, another future dinner date with an Architect (pending) and one brunch invitation tomorrow (weds.) with a pilot on layover at JWA (O.C. airport); mission accomplished!

After my late supper I came home slipped on my warm footsie pajamas, lit some scented candles, put in one of my favorite ‘unlikely love story’ DVD’s, and curled up with my sweet little companion kitty in front of the T.V.

I honestly must say this was one of the most pleasant Valentine’s Days I have ever had!

Tonight I got home from work early and didn't have anything to do so I decided to entertain myself and dress up like the St. Valentine's Day Massacre Movie character, donned a gas mask I just 'happened' to have laying around and jumped from the shadows whenever the 'Trick or Treaters' stuck their hands in the candy bowl. Don't worry I didn't scare the little ones, just the older kids (and some parents too!). Great fun; way better than sitting around in the dark watching T.V. Plus I have candy left over! I love Halloween...

Memorial Day -In Rememberance...

Although many Americans look at Memorial Day as just another day off work, let's not forget what the Memorial Day holiday is really all about.

Memorial Day, formerly known as Decoration Day, commemorates U.S. men and women who died in military service for their country. It first began to honor Union Soldiers who died during the American Civil War. After World War I, it encompassed all those who died in any war or military action.

Earthshaking Easter - California Style!

Happy Easter/Holiday everyone!

As you probably all know by now Southern California had another Earthquake today; a 6.9er considered moderate by most Californians. It was definitely better than the last 5.8 quake we had a year or so ago. As fortune would have it I just happened to be in San Diego near the epicenter, Baja CA, Mexico. I was at Church video taping my new Nephew's Baptism. At first I noticed my video getting a little shaky and then someone yelled, "Earthquake!" The Priest momentarily distracted accidentally dumped a handful of Holy water from the Baptismal into my Nephew's eyes and nose. At that point the proceedings just stopped so I started panning around a packed house of panicked faces looking up at a giant suspended Angel blowing a trumpet and a very heavy looking chandelier swaying from the ceiling. Pretty exciting, as long as no one gets hurt. In total the earthquake was pretty long lasting about a minute to a minute and a half. Lots of shaking and rolling but no jolt this time...and I thought this was just gonna be another boring Easter Mass.

The video came out great and I was happy that my family now has a "not your average" Baptism video to cherish and talk about for years to come.

I really must've pissed Santa off this year and made the XXXtra naughty list.

I awoke Christmas morning and attempted to log in to my computer and what to my wondering eyes should appear... the "blue screen of death" and the dreaded "VIRUS WARNING" message nobody wants to see. Yup, it was a "Trojan Horse" (Malware) "Yippee, Merry Christmas to me" :/

Later that day my family arrived for dinner. When my 6 year old neice asked what Santa had brought me for Christmas I told her he gave me just what I've ALWAYS wanted, a pony!

Well today is the 4th of July, my favorite holiday of the year and I was soooo looking forward to the H.B. 5K run and Parade again. I've only missed four H.B. Parades in 47 years! This time I almost couldn't go this year because of a bad knee sprain 3 weeks ago. However,yesterday the doc just gave me the clearance to wean off the crutches and start walking on it, so now I'M GOING!!! I'm happy again. Unfortunately, I won't be running anytime this summer :(... I'll just have to watch this time. I'll be downtown on Main St. Just a block up from the pier at the start of the race and Parade near the closest parking structure at Walnut/Main. So if ya see me cum say hi! I won't be hard to miss in a knee brace and crutches!

Memorial Day, formerly known as Decoration Day, commemorates U.S. men and women who died in military service for their country. Technology Run Amok... My New Thermostat

Ok, so the management at my overpriced apartment complex decides they want to do renovations to my apartment; the first of which is a new thermostat. What do I need a new thermostat for? The one I have works just fine. They say, “You'll like this one better”. So I give the o.k. for maintenance to start work on my apartment and come home to this ridiculous, digital contraption with programmable days of the week and weekends; like a computerized calendar (someone else’s idea of time management I assume) with as many instructions/buttons as a digital cell phone. Whatever happened to up/ down, on/ off? It’s like my thermostat is assuming I have a set schedule; yea right. Now I can see where this piece of technology might be useful, say in freezing temps but this is Southern California... O.k., so once again I give in to so called “progress”. After about an hour of trying to figure out how to program it I finally got it right, but the darn thing kept turning the heater on and off throughout the night waking me up. I’ll be darned if I’ll let a thermostat decide when I’m hot or cold. I finally gave up, turned it off and used a space heater instead. Geez, what a pain. For the premium rent I pay here if they (the management) really wanted to make me happy they would give me a self- cleaning oven. Now that’s a piece of “progress” I can actually use!

Happy Super Bowl Sunday!

Since I love to cook, today I'm going to be whipping up a new Super Bowl food recipe I found on the internet, "Festive Sausage Balls" (Lol); along with the usual array of Super Bowl food; Chicken Wings, Hamburger Nacho Dip and chips, and my own special secret recipe "Killer Beans" (Ya, the name says it all, whew!) As to the team I'm rooting for to win? Well, lets just say I'm a bit challenged when it comes to football. There is so much more to football than I had ever imagined! Interesting, absolutely but I'm much happier in the kitchen cooking away, listening to all the boys in the living room cheering for their favorite team. Meanwhile I play waitress in my little apron and provide all the fix'ins that make a great Super Bowl party complete.

California Quakes!

Yup, I felt it! Hard to miss a 5.4 shaker. Typical California quake; starts with a little tremor and window rattling like a big truck is going by, then a jolt, followed by a rolling sensation. It's a trip to look outside and see all the light posts shaking and telephone lines swaying. I was inside a business and headed outside to the parking lot to watch the ground move; kinda messes with one's perception, like spinning in place. When I got home I noticed some of my books had fallen off the book shelf, a picture fell off the wall. Nothing serious though.

Boot Camp Update - Week 1

Well, I made it through the first week. It was a VERY long week. Thankfully I get 2 days to recuperate. Five more weeks to go but I can tell I'm starting to feel stronger and look firmer already! Posture is getting better too. Still hurts A LOT though. Advil, Osteo Bi Flex and Ice packs are my best friends, four times a day still; probably for another week then I'll start to feel better. Amazing how my muscles always remember, kinda like riding a bicycle, you never forget once you've learned. I'm starting to feel that "Ohhh it hurts soooo good" feeling again. I was going to take a running class today but thought it prudent to wait a couple of weeks while my body and joints adjust from complete sedentary to extreme high impact activity. I don't want an injury taking me out this soon in the game. I intend to complete my mission!

Well, even though it's my day off I'm still going to engage in some kind of light physical activity to keep from freezing up. I'm sure week 2 our instructors will be stepping up the intensity of our workouts. They've been very inspirational throughout this whole thing and really take the time to give individual, motivational attention OR "rewards" (more on this later) as needed.

The group (squad) I'm in is also hanging in there. I can see improvement in them as well. Only one drop out so far, I think. It's a shame because he was the one who most needed the class. I hope he comes back.

Well I finally did it... NO I didn't sign up for the Military! I signed up for a kick butt fitness program called 'Extreme Boot Camp. It's a five day a week, military style exercise program.

My class starts with a Fitness assessment so I'm going to be trying my hardest to get into the most advanced class possible. Why am I doing this you ask? Because it's a challege! For me it's not just about looking better, that's just a side effect. For me it's about feeling better both mentally and pysically.

I'll keep you all updated via my blog (when I have time) as to my progress and try to get some photos too. Until then...

Southern California's on Fire!

Holy cow, windy! Lots of smoke and California snow (ash) what more can I say. Heavy Santa Ana winds have kicked up an unusually high amount of devastating brush fires from Ventura/Los Angeles to San Diego.

I want to thank everyone who sent messages of concern wondering how close I was to the Malibu fire. Although 80 miles away, smoke was still an issue and then the Santiago Canyon (Irvine) fire started. The Irvine, Portola, Foothill Ranch fire is closest to me (about 10 miles away) but not a real threat (other than bothersome smoke and ash) as it is burning in a mostly uninhabited part of Orange County. Unfortunately it is burning part of a nature/land preserve and a lot of wildlife is being affected. Last night a new fire started in San Diego County (the Portrero Fire) this fire started in a mostly uninhabited area of San Diego County but now has progressed to include Rancho Bernardo, Poway, Scripps Ranch, Del Mar and neighboring cities where over 300,000 people have been evacuated thus far including some of my own family members. It is still not contained. Now several other fires have started and are burning out of control in Lake Arrowhead (Cleavland National Forest) San Bernardino County and in Fall Brook and Camp Pendelton Marine Base (San Diego) requiring mandatory evacuations of all these areas as well.

I just want to thank all the Fire Fighters and Military Personel who are putting there lives on the line fighting all these tragic fires.

I also wanted to make special mention of all the County Jail Trustee Volunteer Fire Crews in LA, Orange and San Bernardino/San Diego counties who are also putting their lives on the line to help fight these fires as they are rarely ever given credit.

My heartfelt condolences to everyone affected by the Malibu L.A., Irvine O.C., Rancho Bernardo S.D. and Arrowhead S.B. fires.

Stay indoors and stay safe everyone 'till the smoke clears.

It’s almost that time again. The Adult Entertainment Expo (AEE) in Las Vegas NV is just a few days away. The AEE which will be held at the Sands Exposition Center at the Venetian Resort Hotel and Casino is the largest adult expo of its kind, followed by the AVN Adult Entertainment Awards Show to be held this year at the Mandalay Bay Events Center at the Mandalay Bay Resort Hotel and Casino, Sat.
